About ICSS


    2019 International Conference on Smart Sensors (ICSS) will be held from June 3-4, 2019 at Sheraton, Hsinchu, Taiwan. Same as last year, the conference is a joint event of 24th Symposium of Association of Chemical Sensors in Taiwan and 22nd Nano Engineering and Microsystem Technology Conference.

   The ICSS is a premier conference in Taiwan focusing on the promotion of advanced research and industrial collaboration. The topics include Chemical Sensors, Biosensors, Microfluidics for Medical Applications, MEMS & NEMS Fabrication, Microfluidics, and Applied MEMS & Applied Microfluidics. The 2019 ICSS is expected to attract over 400 attendees and 40 industrial booths and will provide an excellent platform for the academics and industrial companies.

Geographical Location

The Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel is located at the administrative and commercial hub of Hsinchu County – downtown Zhubei. Known as the “Silicon Valley” of Taiwan, Hsinchu is the center of high technology and humanities development in Taiwan.

From National Highway No.1 Zhubei/Qionglin Interchange
From National Highway No.1, exit at the Zhubei/Qionglin Interchange. Exit the interchange, head in the direction of Qionglin and drive straight until you reach the intersection of Guangming 6th Rd and Ziqiang S. Rd. The hotel will be on your left.

From National Highway No.3 Zhulin Interchange
Take the Zhulin Interchange (Qionglin/Zhudong) exit, then turn onto Provincial Highway 68, head straight in the direction of Zhubei, exit the overpass onto the surface road. Drive straight along Ziqiang S. Rd. and take a left at Guangming 6th Rd. to arrive at your destination. The hotel will be on your right.

Purpose

        The conference organizer sets up the best student paper awards in order to encourage students participating actively in the research and development of chemical/biological/physical sensors, micro-systems, and nano-technology, and enhance students’ academic writing and oral presentation skills. Moreover, industrial paper competition is organized to promote the research and development of practical technologies that are beneficial to the industrial applications.

Student Paper Awards


  • Eligibility
    The first author of the submitted paper must be a student (including fresh graduates) or a postdoctoral researcher.

  • Rules of paper review
    The preliminary examination of the submitted contents will be conducted by the Academic Committee of the General Assembly. Then, according to the oral report or the poster performance, the ranking will be assessed and the awards will be determined.

  • Awards

    1. Oral Presentation Award
      Best presentation award:NTD 4000 and certificate.
      Excellent presentation award: NTD 1200 and certificate.
      Honorary award:certificate.
      The number of awards will be determined according to the status of the submissions, by the academic committee of the conference.

    2. Poster Awards
      Best poster award:NTD 4000 and certificate.

Industrial Paper Competition


  • Jury
    The Industrial Paper Awards are not classified into different categories, and the jury is composed of academic members of the conference and industry experts.

  • Rules of paper review
    The academic committee of the conference will conduct a preliminary examination based on the submitted contents. The recommended finalists will have to deliver an oral report followed by questionnaire from the jury on the day of conferance. Those who are absent will be disqualified.

  • Awards

    1. (1)Champion: NTD 16000 and certificate.

    2. (2)Runner-up: NTD 8000 and certificate.

    3. (3)Third place: NTD 4000 and certificate.

    4. (4)Best Industrial Application Award: NTD 2000 and certificate.

    5. The top three of the Industrial Paper Awards and the Best Industrial Application Awards are instituted by the industries and the winners are provided priority for job interview with the sponsoring companies.
